Bus gutted by fire near Zimbabwe border

A bus travelling from Lusaka to Johannesburg was completely destroyed by fire near the Zimbabwe border at approximately 05:30, after flames engulfed the vehicle in the early hours of the morning.

According to reports, the driver was alerted by a passing motorist who noticed smoke and flames coming from the rear of the bus. The fire is believed to have started in the engine compartment before spreading rapidly through the vehicle, despite attempts to put it out.

All 18 passengers and crew members managed to escape unharmed. Their luggage was safely removed before the blaze consumed the bus.

Authorities are expected to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
