Zanu-PF has confirmed the co-option of Presidential Advisor Cde Paul Tungwarara into the party's Central Committee as a representative of Manicaland Province.

He replaces Cde Dorothy Mabika, who was recently elected Zanu-PF Manicaland provincial chairperson. Cde Tungwarara will now attend Central Committee meetings as a full member of the party's highest decision-making body.

Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa, confirmed the development, saying the decision was approved during a Central Committee meeting.

He said Cde Tungwarara was co-opted in line with party constitutional processes, similar to the earlier inclusion of Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei, describing the move as part of "injecting new blood" into the party through business leaders with ideas on wealth creation.

Mutsvangwa added that the party expects more business figures to join its ranks.

Cde Tungwarara's role as Presidential Advisor has also been expanded beyond Dubai-focused responsibilities to cover broader empowerment programmes.

He has been involved in several government-led empowerment initiatives, including the Presidential Constituency Empowerment Fund.

According to his appointment letter dated 23 February, he will serve a renewable two-year term and is authorised to engage on behalf of government within his area of responsibility.
