ZIMCODD facilitates Follow the Money training in Mutare

The Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD) has conducted a Follow the Money training workshop in Mutare aimed at strengthening community capacity to understand and monitor financial flows in the extractive sector.


In a statement posted on X, ZIMCODD said the workshop forms part of its broader work on economic literacy and public financial management. The session unpacked how mining revenues — including taxes, royalties and levies — are generated, allocated and experienced at community level.

“Participants engaged with practical tools for budget tracking, social accountability and citizen engagement to promote transparency and equitable benefit‑sharing,” the organisation said.

ZIMCODD added that the initiative contributes to improved economic governance, equality and social justice by ensuring that natural resource wealth translates into meaningful development for communities in Manicaland.

The workshop was conducted in partnership with the Centre for Natural Resources Governance.
