Two die in road traffic accident in Norton

Two people have died after a truck veered off the road and struck four pedestrians who were seated by the roadside in Norton, police have confirmed.
In a statement posted on X, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said the accident occurred on 28 March at around 7:30pm along the Norton–Murombedzi Road.
“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 54 km peg along the Norton–Murombedzi Road on March 28 at approximately 7:30pm,” the statement read.
“A motorist who was driving a Tata truck towards Murombedzi lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road to the left, striking four pedestrians who were seated by the roadside. Two of the pedestrians died on the spot, while the third one succumbed to injuries upon admission at Father O’Hea Hospital in Kutama.”
Police said the fourth pedestrian and the truck driver are admitted at the same hospital.
