Rehabilitation works are now underway on a key section of the Bulawayo - Beitbridge Road, with authorities confirming progress on a 10-kilometre stretch between the 266km and 276km peg.
The road, which serves as one of Zimbabwe's most critical transport and trade corridors, links Bulawayo to Beitbridge and provides a key gateway to regional markets in Southern Africa. It has long been affected by years of wear and limited maintenance.
Once completed, the upgraded section is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and reduce travel time for both commercial and private motorists.
The corridor plays a vital role in facilitating trade, tourism and cross-border logistics, particularly between Zimbabwe and neighbouring countries, making its rehabilitation a priority infrastructure development project.
