A 24-year-old woman from Glen View has been sentenced to nine months in prison after a violent altercation with her neighbour left the victim seriously injured.
Bridget Jengwa was convicted by the Mbare Magistrates' Court following an attack on her 21-year-old neighbour, whom she accused of having an affair with her husband.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the incident occurred on 20 April 2026 at the victim's residence in Churu Farm, Glen View.
Prosecutors said Jengwa assaulted the victim during a confrontation that escalated into violence. The court heard that the victim's mother attempted to intervene and calm the situation, but her efforts were unsuccessful.
After the assault, Jengwa fled the scene carrying her child.
The victim was left seriously injured and suffered permanent disfigurement, according to the prosecution.
"The victim sustained permanent disfigurement as a result of the attack," the NPAZ said in a statement.
Jengwa was initially sentenced to 12 months in prison, with three months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
She will serve an effective nine-month jail term.
