Zimbabwe drawn Against DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea in AFCON aualifiers

Zimbabwe national football team have been drawn in Group E of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following the official draw conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday.

The Warriors will battle Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone in what is expected to be a highly competitive qualifying group.

The 2027 AFCON tournament will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and is scheduled to run from June 19 to July 17 next year.

Zimbabwe will be hoping to build on recent momentum after successfully qualifying for the 2025 AFCON finals, although the team failed to progress beyond the group stage of that tournament.

The Warriors have qualified for Africa's premier football competition six times since making their debut appearance at the 2004 edition held in Tunisia.

A total of 48 nations are competing for 24 places at the finals, with the qualification campaign set to begin during the September FIFA international window this year.

Zimbabwe will now turn attention to preparations for the Group E campaign as they seek another appearance at the continental showpiece.
