A lavish wedding ceremony involving the family of businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei turned into an extraordinary display of wealth after newlyweds Taonanyasha John Tagwirei and Poneso Tinomuda Janda reportedly received gifts estimated to be worth more than US$20 million.
The high-profile event attracted some of Zimbabwe's most influential business figures, senior government officials and prominent personalities, many of whom arrived bearing expensive gifts ranging from cash and luxury vehicles to farming equipment, cattle and prime real estate.
One of the defining moments of the ceremony came when Dr Tagwirei and his wife Sandra gifted the couple US$2.5 million in cash together with 33 hectares of land in the affluent Umwinsidale area, reportedly valued at around US$15 million.
The gesture immediately became one of the major highlights of the celebrations, with guests reportedly stunned by the scale of the contribution.
Throughout the ceremony, gift after gift was announced in what many described as one of the most extravagant wedding celebrations seen in Zimbabwe in recent years.
Several prominent businessmen also made substantial contributions.
Businessman Wicknell Chivayo reportedly gifted the couple US$250,000 together with a luxury designer handbag, while gold dealer Scott Sakupwanya contributed US$500,000.
Businessmen Sternly Kondongwe and Koala each presented US$100,000, while AgriFora's Manungo added US$300,000 to the growing list of gifts.
Mining company Makomo Resources also contributed US$50,000.
Among the standout gifts was a rare Defender Octa luxury vehicle presented by Youth Minister Tino Machakaire. The vehicle is believed to be valued at approximately US$470,000, with reports suggesting that only 30 such models exist worldwide.
Businessman Wesley Chingwena added a 140-horsepower tractor, while senior government official George Guvamatanga and his wife donated 25 pregnant pedigree Beefmaster heifers alongside US$250,000 in cash.
Award-winning gospel musician Everton Mlalazi also joined the celebrations, gifting the newlyweds US$150,000.
Other contributions reportedly included US$275,000 from Obey Chimuka and his wife, while G6 added another US$100,000.
