Highlanders Football Club has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Mr Moffat Mlangeni, a devoted servant of the club whose contribution to the growth of Highlanders FC in Victoria Falls is being remembered as both foundational and enduring.

In a statement, the club described Mr Mlangeni as a loyal member of the Highlanders family and one of the pioneers of the Victoria Falls Chapter. His dedication and commitment to the club were credited with helping establish and expand the Highlanders FC support base in the resort city, introducing many new supporters to the club over the years.

The club noted that Mr Mlangeni played a key role in bringing Highlanders FC to Victoria Falls for the first time in 1986, following one of the team's most successful seasons. He remained a passionate ambassador of the club, consistently welcoming players, officials and supporters during visits to the city.

Highlanders FC said his influence extended beyond organisational involvement, describing him as a mentor and custodian of the club's spirit whose efforts helped build a lasting football community in Victoria Falls. His legacy, the club added, will continue through generations of supporters inspired by his work.

On behalf of its leadership, technical team, players and supporters, the club extended condolences to the Mlangeni family, friends and the Victoria Falls Chapter, saying his contribution to the institution would not be forgotten.

Mr Mlangeni was honoured in a traditional tribute phrase used within the club community, "Hamba Kahle, Qhawe leBosso" and "Lala ngokuthula, Mlangeni."

The club also announced that transport arrangements have been made for mourners, with a bus provided through Nyaradzo to ferry attendees to and from Victoria Falls. Members wishing to attend the funeral have been requested to register for logistical planning purposes.
