National carrier Air Zimbabwe will resume direct flights between Harare and London later this month, restoring a key international route after more than a decade and strengthening Zimbabwe's air links with the United Kingdom.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the airline announced that flights between Harare and London Gatwick will resume on July 22, 2026.

"The service will operate three times a week, providing passengers with a convenient, seamless and reliable travel experience between Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom. Flights will depart Harare on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while return services from London Gatwick will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. At London Gatwick Airport, Air Zimbabwe will operate from the South Terminal," the airline said.

Air Zimbabwe said one-way fares will start from US$495, while return tickets will cost from US$900.

The route will be operated using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft under an Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) wet lease agreement with Spanish airline Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas.

Air Zimbabwe last operated direct flights between Harare and London in 2012 before the service was suspended following fleet and operational challenges.

The resumption of the route is expected to improve connectivity between Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom, while supporting tourism, trade, investment and travel for the Zimbabwean diaspora.
