The transit town of Chivhu will soon have its first set of robots, the Minister of Transport Infrastructural Development, Joram Gumbo has said.

Gumbo said this at the official opening of the $2m Zivagwe River Bridge near Chivhu recently.

The robots are to be erected at the intersection of Chivhu-Murambinda Road and Chivhu - Harare Road.

Although he could not say when these robots will be there exactly, Gumbo said a request for the erection of the robots was made to the Department of Roads sometime back. He said the official opening of the Zivagwe Bridge by First Lady Grace Mugabe was actually expected to have happened after the erection of the robots.

He also assured the gathering that the Ministry has a list of bad roads but Government was failing to immediately attend to them because of financial constraints.

Gumbo made a special mention of the Minister of Industry and Commerce who is also the Member of Parliament for Chikomba West, Mike Bimha for his relentless efforts to see to it that the construction of the bridge and the tarring of the road from Chivhu to the Bridge were completed.

Also attending the function was Provincial Minister for Mash East, Brigadier General Ambrose Mutinhiri.
