Mthwakazi Republic Party leaders trial will resume today at the Lupane magistrate Courts.
Nkanyiso Ngulube - Deputy National Secretary for Security said the trial of MRP President Mqondisi Moyo, and SG Hloniphani Ncube is set to resume today at Lupane Magistrate court.
He said the trial was adjourned in April to June 21, because the defense Lawyer was on study leave.
"The case emanated from the 14 December 2016 community gathering that was meant to celebrate the acquittal of the four villagers who were accused of having illegally removed the then head Mistress Millet Bonyongwe, at Mlamuli secondary school. MRP leadership had also been invited to this community gathering to thank the Party for standing with the parents, providing bail money, transport to the court and a Lawyer for them," he said.
"This did not go down well with Inspector Muza and his ZRP who came towards the end of the celebrations and arrested 11 MRP leadership, before charging them with all sorts of charges and spent three days at Jotsholo police cells, the case was thrown away for the rest of the leadership leaving only MRP President Mqondisi Moyo and Secretary General Hloniphani Ncube to face Posa charges. They are pleading not guilty to the charge, and they have stated earlier on that they were not the convenors as the police claims."
He said the convenor is the community and they even wrote a letter to the local Chief, Chief Mabhikwa notifying him of the said meeting as a community, but Inspector Muza will have none of that.
