Senior citizen in court for allegedly fondling minor at church

PLUMTREE - A 75-year-old Johane Masowe congregant, Hammy Mhlanga, has appeared in court facing allegations of indecent assault after he allegedly fondled a minor's buttocks at church.
The matter was heard at the Plumtree Magistrates Court, where Mhlanga pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Joshua Nembaware remanded him out of custody to December 1.
Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi told the court that on October 18, Mhlanga instructed children at the church to fetch firewood. He then ordered the complainant to retrieve keys from his bag and unlock the church doors.
As the girl was unlocking the doors, Mhlanga allegedly followed her and fondled her buttocks. The incident was reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
