'We are ready to govern' boasted Chamisa - yet failed to implement even one key reform in 22 years

"We are ready to govern, we are ready to provide leadership, we are ready to create jobs and arrest inflation. Our government unlike that of Emmerson Mnangagwa is going to deliver joy and happiness to every Zimbabwean. ED cannot win this country's election because we have a superior team compared to his," boasted Nelson Chamisa, President of MDC Alliance, recently.

The problem with Nelson Chamisa is he is just a big-headed clown full of himself and so he does not see the obvious or listen to sound advice. Zanu PF is rigging these elections and MDC is not doing the nation any favours by ignoring this reality!

MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF's dictatorial powers once and for all during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They failed to implement even one meaningful reform in five years. Not even one.

SADC leaders who had helped force Mugabe and Zanu PF to agree to the implementation of the reforms at the start of the GNU, begged MDC leaders not to take part in the 2013 elections until reforms were implemented. Their begging fall on deaf ears. MDC have been participating in these flawed and illegal elections since 2013 for the sake of the few gravy train seats Zanu PF has been giving away as bait.

By participating in the flawed elections the opposition have given legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF.
MDC leaders are asking the people participate in elections with no verified voters roll, where 3 million in diaspora are denied the vote or 37% of the electorate, etc., etc. We are to believe they have devised "Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES)" guaranteed to deliver the democratic changes without implementing and reforms.

Of course, none of these WIRES have worked as Zanu PF has blatantly rigged the elections. And after 41 years of rigged election it is insane to keep hoping against reason for a different result.

Indeed, MDC leaders even have the chutzpah to blame SADC leaders - for GNU's failure to deliver free elections when it was MDC leaders who failed to implement even one reform, the ordinary Zimbabweans - for failing to turnout in numbers to vote although 73% for Tsvangirai in 2008 was not good enough, and of course blame Zanu PF for rigging the elections - the very thing they insisted WIRES would stop!

Without doubt, the 2008 to 2013 represents the best chance Zimbabwe has ever had in the last 41 years to implement the democratic reforms and thus dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship once and once for all and replace it with a healthy and functioning democratic system of government. It was our get out of jail card. The tragedy is Robert Mugabe bribed Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends with the trappings of high office and they forgot about the reforms.

"Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!" (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy-train good life, they will not rock the boat!) Zanu PF cronies boasted during the GNU when asked why MDC were not implementing the reforms.
Morgan Tsvangirai and company were busy enjoying the gravy-train good life the forgot to implement even one meaningful democratic reform; they failed to use the get out of jail card. Worse still, for a share of the spoils of power, MDC leaders are the ones insisting we do not need reforms and free and fair elections.

"We are ready to govern, we are ready to provide leadership!" Yeah right! How cynical! So, MDC is ready to govern if Zanu PF can be made to step aside; MDC will not use the electoral mandate given by the people to implement the reforms and will stop anyone else forcing Zanu PF to implement the reforms by participating in flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

Chamisa and his MDC friends' promise to provide good leadership in the post Zanu PF era is as meaningless and cynical as Moses promising good leadership to the Children of Israel once they reach The Promised Land. The number one problem of the Israelites was how to get out of Egypt and in Zimbabwe's case our Moses will not perform any of the wonders to force Zanu PF to implement the reforms because MDC leaders are enjoying a share of spoils of power from the Zanu PF dictatorship!

If Zimbabweans are serious about ending the Zanu PF dictatorship and the curse of bad governance it has brought with it; then they must accept the political reality that MDC leaders are not going to implement any democratic reforms now or ever and search for competent men and women to carry out this key task. MDC leaders' failure to get even one reform implemented in 22 years was not a mistake; Chamisa and company are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent.
