Dongo and Grace believe in their own infallibility

My quarrel with people like Ms Dongo is they are very narrow minded people who have elevated those who fought in the war of independence into not just first class citizens with the rest reduced to fourth class but elevated them to the positions of Gods whose words and actions are to be accepted without question by the rest of us mere fallible mortals. She is no different from Mugabe and the others in Zanu PF is that they never believed in freedom, liberty, justice, one-man-one-vote and all the other pre-independence rallying calls, at least not as universal and inalienable human rights.
Mugabe and Zanu PF wanted a one-party state from the word go. Joshua Nkomo and PF Zapu wanted the same thing too. The fact that the 1980 Lancaster House Constitution was a multi-party democratic one was a great disappointment especially for Mugabe and his Zanu PF friends who were confident of being the dominant party. Still, it did not take Mugabe long to ride rough shod over the people's individual rights and freedoms to establish a de facto one-party dictatorship.
PF Zapu was the greatest obstacle to Mugabe's drive for absolutely power and he mounted the mid-1980s Gururahundi operation designed to decimate PF Zapu's power base. The demonic intentions of Mugabe and Zanu PF where there for all to see, indeed Mugabe has repeatedly boosted of "holding several degrees in violence".
Ms Dongo was a CIO before she was elected MP in 1990 on a Zanu PF ticket and then as an independent MP in 1995. As a CIO she would have known the dirty tricks, if not shed the blood of the over 30 000 murdered by the regime herself, the dirty tricks Zanu PF employed to achieve the de facto one-party dictatorship. She has never condemned any of it even when she became MP.
The first time Ms Dongo has ever said anything critical of Mugabe and Zanu PF it was to complain than she and other less favoured liberation war Gods and Goddesses were not getting a fair share of the power and looted wealth.
In July this year Ms Dongo was in the papers talking about how Zanu PF had painted the late Nathan Shamuyarira's house the day he died to hide the neglect, rot and decay. All she saw was a Zanu PF grandee who had lived the last decade in abject poverty and died a pauper. She did not see the neglect, rot and decay of all the other houses around.
UNICEF reported of 16% or 2 million Zimbabweans now living in abject poverty and she sees abject poverty only when the ruling elite are affected! Worse still she has completely failed to notice that the Zanu PF dictatorship has failed and therefore must be dismantled.
"There are a lot of senior members in the party who participated in the liberation struggle but are being side-lined. We have a lot of people who were injured during the liberation struggle who deserve to occupy those positions but because they do not have anyone to speak for them they will remain in the wilderness," commented Margaret Dongo.
In other words Ms Dongo is up in arms against Grace Mugabe being catapulted into power not because she believes the Zanu PF dictatorship has failed and therefore must be changed, she wants the corrupt, tyrannical and murderous system to continue, what she objects to is power being given to anyone else other than the liberation war Gods and Goddesses!
Dongo said she had gone back to her rural home in Mhondoro which "I turned into a farm because I was not given a farm because they say I am too talkative." Obvious she believes there is enough land out there for her and all the other war vets, the Gods and Goddesses of Mount Olympus, to have as many farms as they wish.
Zimbabwe is in this political and economic mess because Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies denied the ordinary people a meaningful say in the governance of the country, epitomised by the regime's establishment and retention of this de facto one party dictatorship. The system was doomed to fail because it was wasteful of the nation's human and material resources.
In Ms Dongo we have one of the war vets who has herself fallen on hard times, a victim of the country's failed political system, but are too wrapped up in the in the false notion that liberation war heroes are infallible and a cut above all the rest to let go even with the mountain of evidence of blundering incompetence and failure.
Margaret Dongo and Grace Mugabe both believe they are infallible Goddesses whose will and wisdom we mortals must accept and hold in highest regard. The former believes she got her godliness by virtue of her liberation war exploits and the later by virtue of being the wife of Mugabe. The truth is they are both narrow minded individuals who, having been exposed to positions of power and authority, have sort to place themselves above the law and to enrich themselves regardless of the suffering and misery their misrule is causing on populous they are supposed to serve!
Until we implement all the democratic reforms and pave the way for free, fair and democratic elections and thus put an end to all these good-for-nothing tyrants and pretenders imposing their political will on the nation; Zimbabwe will never get out of this hell-hole the good-for-nothing idiots have landed us into already.
