STRUGGLERS Border Strikers dismissed fellow new boys Ngezi Platinum in an entertaining Castle Lager Premiership match played under hot conditions at Dulivhadzimu Stadium yesterday.

In form Border Strikers goalkeeper Talent Sande kept a clean sheet with a number of brilliant saves to ensure his team collected maximum points.

It was Border Strikers' second home win in a row at Dulivhadzimu following their shock 2-1 victory over former champions Dynamos a fortnight ago.

Clever Mutendebvure thrust the home side in front in the second minute after capitalising on a defensive blunder by Ngezi Platinum's rear guard.

Washington Phakamisa tried to level matters for the visitors in the 10th minute but his stinging shot was smothered by the brilliant Sande.

The visitors then resorted to playing long balls, which the home team easily dealt with.

Ngezi Platinum tried to get back into the game by throwing everything they had at Border Strikers early in the second half, but they were punished by Tabwe Kalunga, who made it 2-0 in the 55th minute.

Border Strikers remain at the bottom of the PSL log despite winning yesterday and moving level on points with Tsholotsho FC at 13.

Ngezi Platinum coach Tonderai Ndiraya said his team was hungry for success, but poor defending has been their undoing in the last two games and they would be working on their defence.

Malunga said they were now focusing on improving their away record. "It is important that we collect as many points as possible (away from home as well)," said Malunga.
