Angeline Vere, Telecel CEO
Thank you all, ZUJ leadership and their team, members of the press, Telecel and staff, for making the time to join us today as we sign an agreement with ZUJ that will see Telecel sponsor journalists training workshops this quarter.
As I have mentioned earlier, we are here to officially handover a sponsorship worth $25 000 to the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists to facilitate workshops that train media professionals covering ICT and business sectors.
ZUJ is our long term partner with whom we have worked with together before and we are very excited to continue this relationship with the announcement of five media training workshops. The workshops will be in Mashonaland West, Masvingo, Bulawayo and the Midlands provinces. The workshops are intended to improve the quality of reporting of the ICT and business sector as a whole.
This is not the first time Telecel has partnered the media through ZUJ, in 2012 we sponsored media workshops in Harare and Mutare. Our partnership has not been limited to workshops as we have been active supporters of the ZUJ Njama awards ceremony.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank ZUJ and the media particularly those who cover our sector, ICTs, for their work which helps shed light and tell the story of our exciting, competitive and often complex industry. Without you, the media, it would be nearly impossible for us to get people to appreciate the ICT industry, its products and the services we offer.
Telecel for its part will continue to remain open to the media and try to provide factual information that is of interest and value to your audiences while at the same time ensuring that the true position is represented in reports about the company and the media.
Thank you.
