Police in Letlhakane village in Botswana are investigating an incident in which a 25-year-old man went bersek and stabbed four men while drinking traditional beer at a shebeen.
Mmegi reported that the station commander for Letlhakane, superintendent Michael Maphephu confirmed investigating the case, in which one of the wounded victims died.
"One of the victims who was in critical condition passed on Tuesday, while another has been discharged with two others in critical conditions in different hospitals. We don't know what could have caused the misunderstanding between the accused and the victims," said Maphephu.
He said the incident happened Friday evening after nine. Maphephu said the accused allegedly found the victims drinking and at first called out to them individually.
"The accused is alleged to have become furious at some point and attacked the victims in front of other people. The other victim is hospitalised at Orapa, one at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital and the other one in Letlhakane," he said.
He said the accused is likely to face a murder charge, and three counts of unlawful wounding.
Maphephu said they arrested the accused after three days at Metlhabeng ward.
The police boss said the accused is still admitted at Mahalapye hospital due to an injury on the leg, which he got while escaping from the scene.
