Mutambara protected by Mugabe to distabilise MDC - Ncube

Welshman Ncube, leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), says as long as Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara remains protected by President Robert Mugabe, the dispute over his controversial post in the inclusive government will not be resolved anytime soon.
In a wide-ranging interview with a London-based radio station run by self-exiled Zimbabweans, Ncube alleged that President Mugabe was conniving with Mutambara to destabilise his faction of the MDC.
Ncube said the MDC was not focusing on the Mutambara issue but instead on building structures for their campaign.
He charged that the Mutambara issue was plainly intended to distract the party from keeping its eyes on the political ball.
Ncube denied accusations from critics who apportion blame on him for the problems being faced by his party, as they argue that he single-handedly head-hunted Mutambara from the United States.
Efforts to get a comment from Mutambara were fruitless as his mobile phone was switched off.
