THE Zanu-PF Youth League has embarked on a massive recruitment drive, targeting to amass 3, 5 million voters out of the five million the party intends to mobilise for next year's harmonised elections.
This comes as more than 4 000 youths submitted their CVs for the Youth League's elective congress set for next month.
The deadline for the submission of CVs was on Friday.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Zanu-PF acting deputy secretary for Youth Affairs Tendai Chirau said youths are inclined to join the ruling party as President Mnangagwa continues to introduce policies and projects that resonate with them.
"We are aware that the majority of the voters are the youth and out of the more than five million members the party was instructed to mobilise by His Excellency President Mnangagwa, we as the Youth League are targeting to mobilise 3, 5 million members that will vote for the ruling party.
"The plan for mobilising is an everyday thing and we encourage new members to join the home of the people's revolution."
He said the Youth League and all its affiliates are currently seized with ensuring that those that are failing to register to vote because of identity documents acquire the papers.
On the elective congress slated for May 4-8, the outgoing Chirau, who will not be standing after surpassing the required age-limit, said:
"This elective conference is going to accelerate the energy we need. Youth League members across the country are going to be in attendance and we are also going to invite our counterparts from Youth Leagues from other liberation movements across SADC."
