Zanu PF has scheduled a series of Constitution Amendment No. 3 awareness meetings across Insiza District beginning on 6 March, as the party intensifies efforts to mobilise support for the proposed changes.
The development comes as opposition activists campaigning against the amendment continue to face obstacles, with National Constitutional Assembly leader Lovemore Madhuku currently nursing injuries he says were inflicted during a meeting at his party offices in Harare. In contrast, Zanu PF structures have been freely conducting mobilisation meetings nationwide.
In a notice to communities in Insiza, the ruling party announced that meetings will be held in Insiza South’s Wards 10 and 11 on 6 March at 10am. The logistics team comprises Sibonginkosi Siziba, Zimele Ndlovu, Sabelo Ncube, Qhubani Moyo and Peter Damu. Former legislator Andrew Langa will oversee the overall programme.
On 7 March at 10am, the campaign will move to Ward 9 in Sanali, coordinated by Godwishes Sibanda and Langton Maphosa. On 8 March at 10am, meetings will be held in Ward 2, Marubamba, with Clara Langa, Thandiwe Siziba, Lilian Mhlanga and Lupia Mtonga handling logistics.
In Insiza North, Zanu PF said it will hold meetings in Wards 16 and 17 at Amazon and Nkankezi on 6 March at 10am. The logistics team includes Dennis Ndlovu, Silengane Moyo, Beauty Ngwenya, Forbes Manombe, Herbert Mpofu and Angeline Ngwenya. Insiza North legislator Delani Moyo will be the overall commander.
Ward 19 will host its meeting at Sibhata on 7 March at 10am, coordinated by Clever Moyo, Joel Adonsi and Samson Siziba. Ward 22 will follow on 8 March at 10am at Emagedini, with Patricia Ndidzo, Virginia Maybe, Sihle Mathe and Felence Sikhosana in charge of logistics.
“All DCC members that have not been deployed on logistics should attend meetings nearer to them,” reads the notice.
