PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday chaired the 398th Ordinary Session of the Zanu PF Politburo at the party's headquarters in Harare, marking the official start of preparations for the ruling party's 23rd National People's Conference.
The main conference is scheduled to open on Friday, October 16, at Chinhoyi University of Technology in Mashonaland West Province.
Mnangagwa said the Politburo meeting focused on reviewing preparations, the conference programme and key issues expected to shape deliberations.
He urged Politburo members chairing conference committees to be guided by the collective views of delegates, saying discussions should strengthen intra-party democracy while ensuring that resolutions contribute to economic development and improve the lives of Zimbabweans.
"In accordance with our Constitution, the Central Committee Report will be officially tabled before the Conference," Mnangagwa said.
He also commended the Politburo and heads of departments for their submissions, urging party members to familiarise themselves with departmental activities, perspectives and challenges to improve coordination and cooperation.
Mnangagwa said the party's administrative performance during the 2025/2026 period had recorded progress through oversight, policy management meetings and engagement with Government and other stakeholders.
He added that these engagements had helped the party adopt reforms and address operational gaps.
The President also thanked the Conference Organising Committee, the Resource Mobilisation Sub-Committee, donors and other supporters for the success of the Presidential Fundraising Dinner Ball held in Harare, which reportedly raised close to US$10 million.
Mnangagwa said the upcoming conference should deliver transformative results, emphasising that the party's responsibility would extend beyond adopting resolutions to ensuring their implementation.
"Our responsibility does not end with the adoption of resolutions; we must provide bold oversight to ensure full implementation for impactful results guided by our Party and national interests," he said.
The conference is expected to bring together party delegates to deliberate on organisational matters, review performance and adopt resolutions guiding Zanu PF's political and administrative priorities.
