#ThisConstitution #OurConstitution founder Abigaile Mupambi has rapped the ZimRights over the selection of the human rights defenders in which the published; list shows only prominent people from Harare among them the legislator Jessie Majome, Pastor Evan Mawarire and Patson Dzamara among others all who are based in Harare.
"We want to express concern as activists outside Harare in particular Matabeleland! We are learning of the community human rights nominees in papers only to learnt that they are indeed defenders but not representing a national picture at all," Mupambi said.
"Every community surely has its defenders though they cannot all be winners but it is misleading to have such a set purported to be a national top human rights defenders face!"
She said this is not expected in a environment when even Zimrights themselves deeply know its not true !!!
"It has to be noted that human rights defending and populace is two different things ! Its not just arrests !its the business itself and impact on the ground! We want to register our position in this award saga business! Actually we feel its not done properly it steers commotion in our struggle! As things stand ,we are already witnessing cracks along regionalism and it weakens our struggle!!" she said.
"If these people don't mind for now should keep this award thing and award people after winning the struggle! Why awarding people within a struggle."
