A Mhangura taxi driver is reportedly striking from the dead after he was grisly murdered by artisanal miners on Christmas Eve before being robbed of his car, $2000 and a mobile phone, Bulawayo24.com has heard.
Sources close to investigations allege Wilton Madzongwe (30) was hired with his Toyota Raum by three illegal miners from Bazzar Mhangura to Chegutu on 24 December last year and was reported missing afterwards.
Madzongwe's body was reportedly found, buried in shallow grave on a mountain, by women who were fetching fire wood who were alerted by a dog that was feasting on his decomposed body prompting a police report.
"We exhumed the body of Madzongwe on 3 January 2018 after women who were fetching firewood found his decomposed body buried in a shallow grave.
"Madzongwe was driving a white Toyota Raum registration number AEH 5941 which was robbed ,though investigations proved that the car is being used in Zimbabwe currently," explained the source.
Relatives of Madzongwe identified their body and buried, but did not end there as they confirmed to this publication that they performed ritual purposes for their late relative to fight back vigorously.
"We lost our relative, BUT we did not end there because we conducted ritual ceremonies for our person to fight back, I tell you the culprits shall be brought to book and some will go insane," bellowed a relative who declined to be named.
However, in what proves to be Madzongwe's first attack a prominent tout (hwindi) Albert Nherera aka Pondo day dreamed at a bottle store in Mhangura about Madzongwe's death saying "I am not the one who killed him but only provided fuel", leading to his arrest.
Hundreds of Mhangura people besieged Mhangura police station to have a glimpse of Pondo and people were bared to take photos by the police.
Quizzed on the alleged murder Pondo implicated other two suspects' namely Ephraim Tapoya and Mombe who are still at large.
Meanwhile, statics showed that murder cases were on the increase this festive season that is from 15 December to 1 January 2018.
