ConCourt has a task to determine ZEC errors

MDC Alliance official Discent Collins Bajila has said the Constitutional Court's duty will be to declare and determine if the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission announced election results on error or it was a deliberate move to prop up President Elect Emmerson Mnangagwa.
"The task of the Constitutional Court on Wednesday is in essence about determining which error is to be condoned. The Applicant's argument is that the Electoral Commission committed various errors that affect the credibility of the results of elections and prays that the court orders either a rerun of the election in question or to declare that applicant won," he said.
"First Respondent argues that Applicant made errors in spellings of names, addresses of respondents and in counting the number of days required for Applicant to file the petition. The Electoral Commission agrees with First respondent in total. The Electoral Commission proceeds to agree with Applicant in that the figures announced as total votes acquired by first Respondent were erroneous, but disagrees on the extent of the errors. Electoral Commission therefore prays that the Court condones their errors because even after correction, they don't go below the 50%+1 required to declare First respondent as winner."
He said what is not heard yet is if these extra votes being taken away from first respondent now are being given to any of the 22 other Presidential Candidates or they are being thrown away.
"If they are being thrown away, either way it means that the percentages of all or some of the candidates must be increasing and thus necessitates a subsequent announcement," he said.
