Three Bindura machete wielding artisanal miners appeared before Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro and were remanded in custody charged with two counts of robbery yesterday.
The trio, Duncan Ndlovu (25), Trust Emmanuel (40) and Tapera Chikongota (30) pleaded not guilty to the charge and were remanded to 14 September for trial.
Public Prosecutor Albert Mazhindu alleges that the trio approached Jaison Jinjiwa at Kamushenjere mine in Guruve on 28 August and robbed him of his 40 grams of gold before taking $3000 cash from him.
The armed robbers proceeded to confront Amos Chikerema who was on the same mine and threatened to slice him with their machetes before robbing him of his $62.
One of the victims is said to have called the police who acted swiftly in apprehending the culprits.
