A CITY woman wept in court claiming her husband has been assaulting her for not cancelling her marriage certificate with her former husband.
Challenge Muzama cried in court after applying for a protection order against her husband Bruka Razevera, who verbally and physically abuses her.
"He assaults me for my existing marriage certificate.
"He insults me saying I am a prostitute and that we are in an adulterous relationship and I do not have rights to his assets.
"I am willing to cancel that marriage certificate, but I do not have the legal fees needed," she said.
Muzama also told the court that her former husband had another wife and children.
"My ex-husband has his own family now so there is no need for me to be assaulted by Razevera.
"We are not talking to each other with my ex-husband because he has his own family."
In response, Razevera told the court that he is not her husband but her boyfriend.
"I am not her husband as I discovered that she has a marriage certificate in her suitcase.
"She is lying that she doesn't have money to cancel her marriage certificate so I am afraid at being sued by her husband.
"I never assaulted her, I just told her to vacate my premises until the divorces with her husband so that I can marry her," he said.
Presiding magistrate Noah Gwatidzo granted the protection order in Muzama's favour.
