The key drivers of the National Development Strategy One are in motion, with the District Development Fund (DDF) embarking on an extensive road rehabilitation programme in various parts of the country including Mashonaland East Province.
With most roads in rural areas having become impassable due to heavy rains received this season, the District Development Fund (DDF) in Mashonaland East Province has started rehabilitating the roads to improve accessibility.
The DDF notes the importance of good road infrastructure in the implementation of various government programmes including NDS1 and the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"As DDF we want to compliment government efforts in fighting the covid-19 pandemic by making sure all roads are passable," said Phoebe Makhosi, DDF Mashonaland East Development Co-ordinator.
DDF Mrewa District Cordinator Vimbai Makunde said, "With enough resources we want to make sure all roads are accessible during the vaccine rollout programme."
The programme has started with the rehabilitation of the old Mtoko Road and the Nyamutumbu 44 road.
"We want to thank the DDF as this is a very key road in our area," said Village Head Washington Mukurazhizha.
Infrastructure development is a key component of the National Development Strategy One, which runs from 2021 to 2025.
