GMAZ Boss Tafadzwa Musarara takes Competition and Tariff Commission head on
22 Apr 2022 at 07:57hrs | Views
Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) Chairman Tafadzwa Musarara has come out guns blazing against the Competition and Tariff Commission saying the law which gives power to the CTC does not take into consideration Zimbabwe's current economic situation and the need for industry to meet and discuss keeping prices affordable and within the reach of the people.
He was speaking in an interview with veteran broadcaster Perfect Hlongwane of Sly Media TV.
He said that the laws need to be made for the people and not the people being made for the laws.
The GMAZ Boss lamented how the Competition and Tariff Commission was busy flying across the globe and yet ignoring the need to set up offices outside Harare and monitor the issue of competition at areas such as Mbare Msika among others. He also revealed that Zimbabwe is in a situation where government, industry and the consumers need to meet regularly and keep prices affordable for the people of Zimbabwe.
The Competition and Tariff Commission Act is set to undergo an overhaul in line with the legal demands and the need for a new regulatory framework to monitor competition and Tariffs.
