FOLLOWING the opening of the mid-season transfer window on Friday, Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Benjani Mwaruwari, wants to sign a holding midfielder and three forwards.
Last Saturday, Mwaruwari watched his charges do light duty of Bulawayo City whom they thumped 3-0 to start the second half of the season on a bright note.
Their 3-0 away win against City came courtesy of the goals by Bruno Mtigo, Denver Mukamba and Delic Murimba. As a result, they moved up the league table to sixth with 28 points after 18 rounds of play.
The victory came as a relief for the ex-Warriors captain who was in charge of his ninth game since taking charge of Ngezi in March.
"Chances of us beefing up our squad are very high but we need to be very careful and make sure we bring people that we really want. I'm aiming to bring on board four to five players. In short, we are in a hunt for a defensive midfielder and wingers. We are looking for players that have energy and one seasoned player who still has the power and will to teach the youngsters how it's done," said Mwaruwari ahead of their Week 19 league tie against Bulawayo football giants Highlanders.
"It was nice to win against Bulawayo City. We celebrated but our full focus is now on our next game against Highlanders, a big team that also did well in the past weekend," added Mwaruwari.
Before their triumph over Bulawayo City, speculation was rife that the platinum miners had handed the former Manchester City forward an ultimatum to start producing positive results.
Fondly known as Undertaker, Mwaruwari, who is on record saying he wants to help his charges to a top four finish, has managed three wins, 1-0 away at ZPC Kariba, 4-0 at home against Tenax and the City win. Under his reign, the Mhondoro-based outfit has also played four draws against Bulawayo Chiefs (1-1), Dynamos (0-0), Black Rhinos (1-1), and Manica Diamonds (0-0).
Harare City and Whawha are the only sides that have beaten Ngezi Platinum Star under Mwaruwari, both winning by identical 1-0 scorelines.
