Ben Curran, the younger brother of England internationals Sam and Tom Curran, has been included in Zimbabwe's squad for their upcoming one-day international (ODI) series against Afghanistan.

The 28-year-old batsman is the son of the late Kevin Curran, who represented Zimbabwe in 11 ODIs between 1983 and 1987 and later served as the national team's head coach from 2005 to 2007.

This marks Ben Curran's maiden call-up to Zimbabwe's national team, following a stellar domestic season. The left-hander has been in prolific form, leading the run-scoring charts in Zimbabwe's 50-over competition with an impressive average of 64.50. He has also dominated in red-ball cricket, averaging 74.14, further cementing his credentials for international selection.

The three-match ODI series against Afghanistan begins on December 17, following a three-match T20 series scheduled from December 11 to 14. A two-Test series will commence on December 26, with the Test squad yet to be announced.

Zimbabwe is also set to face England in a one-off Test at Trent Bridge in May 2025, adding an exciting dimension to the Curran family story, as Ben's brothers have both donned the England jersey.

Sam Curran remains a key part of England's white-ball squad, while Tom Curran last featured for the national team in 2021.

Ben Curran's inclusion highlights Zimbabwe's investment in domestic talent and adds an intriguing layer to their upcoming series against Afghanistan and future fixtures on the international calendar.
