In a shocking and dramatic protest, the relatives of a murdered woman, Ms. Anna Matambo, dumped her body at the residence of her boyfriend, who is accused of killing her, in Kwekwe's Mbizo suburb. The suspect, who allegedly axed Ms. Matambo to death at their lodgings in Mbizo 13 on February 10, remains on the run.

On Thursday, Ms. Matambo's relatives placed her body on the verandah of the boyfriend's house in Mbizo 15, citing traditional beliefs that the deceased's avenging spirit needed to be left at the suspect's residence. The body was later collected and taken to Gutu, where she was buried.

Confirming the incident, Ms. Matambo's uncle, Mr. Phillip Chidhakwa, said the act was part of their traditional customs to bid her spirit farewell before burial.

"Anna Matambo was my niece, my sister's daughter. She was murdered by her boyfriend, and I was called on Sunday evening and informed about her death," said Mr. Chidhakwa.

Mr. Chidhakwa, who resides in Chegutu, revealed that Ms. Matambo's three children, aged 13, 11, and 9, witnessed the gruesome murder of their mother.

"The three children saw their mother being struck three times with an axe on the head, and she died on the spot," he said.

Despite the family's claims, Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko stated that the police were not yet aware of the murder case. Investigations into the matter are ongoing as authorities seek to bring the suspect to justice.
