A 28-year-old man from Tshemahali village in Madlambuzi, Plumtree, has died following an accident involving a donkey-drawn scotch cart that overturned after hitting a tree.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson, Inspector Chiratidzo Dube, identified the deceased as Luckson Ndlovu.

The accident occurred on Monday morning at around 9am on an unnamed dirt road in the Tshemahali area.

Inspector Dube explained that Ndlovu and his 22-year-old wife, Caren Dube, were traveling on the donkey-drawn scotch cart in search of firewood when the cart collided with a tree trunk. The impact caused the cart to overturn, trapping Ndlovu.

He was rushed to Ntoli Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is currently at Plumtree District Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
