FC Platinum has been plunged into mourning following the tragic death of their Under-19 midfielder, Perfector Shoko, who passed away yesterday morning at the age of 17 after reportedly ingesting poison.

The shocking loss comes just three months after the platinum miners lost senior team midfielder Brian Banda in a fatal car accident, leaving the club reeling from yet another devastating tragedy.

Club spokesperson Chido Chizondo confirmed the death but withheld further details.
"Yes, it is true, we have lost our Under-19 player, Perfector. That is all we can say for now," Chizondo said.

Sources close to the family said Shoko allegedly consumed poison on Thursday. He was discovered in critical condition and rushed to hospital but, despite medical efforts, died on Friday morning.

Perfector was the younger brother of FC Platinum first-team midfielder, Polyester Shoko, deepening the grief within both the club and the Shoko family.

Widely regarded as one of the most promising players in the club's youth structures, Shoko was admired for his humility, work ethic and potential to become a future star for the Zvishavane-based side.

"This is just too much for the team and the family. First Brian Banda, now this. It's heartbreaking," said one grief-stricken source.

FC Platinum said details regarding burial and funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.
