Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana has defended President Emmerson Mnangagwa's leadership, claiming that the Second Republic has ushered in a new era of modernisation and industrialisation - despite widespread public criticism over rising poverty levels.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 22nd Zanu PF National People's Conference, Mangwana highlighted progress in the manufacturing sector, citing increased capacity utilisation and a growing industrial base.

"A viable health sector is not only an indicator but also an outcome of socio-economic and sustainable development," Mangwana said, referencing the commissioning of a strategic warehouse along the Beira corridor to receive incoming medicines. He added that government remains committed to capacitating NatPharm to ensure consistent availability of pharmaceuticals.

Mangwana also praised Mega Market for its business milestones and upcoming projects, including a solar plant and a trailer assembly facility, assuring them of continued government support.

In a nod to environmental stewardship, Mangwana led a tree planting ceremony in the Eastern Highlands, urging communities to embrace tree planting beyond national events to strengthen environmental protection.
