The Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC)'s head of operations, Matthews Sesoko, is reported to have been kidnapped and robbed of his digital devices on Friday night in a script that smells like a staged act. All this is happening when it is clear that Sesoko's gadgets will be required for investigations around the capture of the security cluster by criminal syndicates.

Sources close to the investigation said Sesoko was released unharmed around 2am after being accosted by unknown suspects in Pretoria. His vehicle was later discovered still idling on a secluded stretch of the R25 road in Kempton Park in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to reports, the assailants made off with Sesoko's state cellphones and laptop, devices believed to contain sensitive information linked to ongoing corruption probes within the country's security establishment.

This is a developing story.
