Prophet accused of raping and threatening minor with deafness

A self-styled prophet from Kuwadzana, Aleck Mushowane, is facing serious charges after allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl and threatening her with deafness and muteness if she reported the incident.
The allegations emerged when the complainant testified during the commencement of trial before Harare regional magistrate Noel Mupeiwa. The teenager told the court that Mushowane approached her and a friend while they were standing by a gate, introducing himself as a prophet who could assist them spiritually to improve their fortunes.
According to the State, Mushowane lured the girl to accompany him to another location under the guise of offering spiritual help before raping her. He allegedly threatened her with supernatural punishment to silence her. The trial is continuing.
