The ruling Zanu-PF party has set its sights on expanding its membership in the capital, leveraging ongoing developmental projects spearheaded by the Second Republic.

The announcement followed the first Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting of the year for Harare Province, held this Sunday, where party leaders outlined a strategic plan to strengthen their presence in the city.

Harare Provincial Chairperson Godwills Masimirembwa highlighted the party's goal to recruit one million members in 2026, framing the initiative as a commitment to reinforcing the party's organisational base and engaging citizens across Zimbabwe.

"Our ambitious target reflects our dedication to growth and our excitement about the development initiatives being implemented by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, which aim to improve the quality of life for all Zimbabweans," Masimirembwa said.

The provincial leadership also pledged to continue with income generation and community empowerment initiatives. Harare Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tawengwa, cited recent programmes in Epworth, where First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa engaged with local communities.

"Last year, our province rolled out several empowerment initiatives, including the provision of solar-powered boreholes and the donation of wheelchairs to vulnerable groups. These programmes support our mission to empower citizens while expanding the party's reach," Tawengwa added.

The PCC meeting underscores Zanu-PF's strategy of coupling political mobilisation with community development, aiming to strengthen both its grassroots structures and public perception ahead of future elections.
