Police have arrested a 45‑year‑old man in connection with a brutal
double murder that claimed the lives of his wife and heavily pregnant
daughter in Victory Park, Kadoma.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest of Obert Namurokosi (45) following the fatal incident, which occurred on 3 May 2026.
According to authorities, the tragedy stemmed from a domestic dispute between the suspect and his wife, Cynthia Namurokosi (45), who had fled their home on 2 May and sought refuge at the residence of their daughter, Takudzwa Namurokosi (23).
It is alleged that on the following day, the suspect tracked his wife to the house armed with a kitchen knife. He reportedly launched a violent attack, first stabbing his daughter - who was nine months pregnant - multiple times. Police say he then turned on his wife, stabbing her in the neck. Both victims died at the scene.
The suspect was later apprehended and is expected to face two counts of murder.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Kadoma community, with authorities condemning the violence and urging families to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes. Police reiterated their stance against domestic violence, warning that perpetrators will face the full force of the law.
