CHIREDZI - Senior executives of Patriotic Vendors4ED in Masvingo Province on Thursday toured Chiredzi Central following the demolition of illegal vending structures, urging traders to support Zanu PF‑led vending programmes and condemning remarks allegedly made against President Emmerson Mnangagwa during the operation.

The delegation was led by Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Hazvinetsi Chinogwenya, accompanied by Provincial Vice Chairperson Elliot Guruviro and Masvingo District Chairperson Elisha Mangwende. They were received by Chiredzi Zanu PF leadership headed by Chiredzi East legislator and DCC Chairman Siyaki Mundungehama.

During the visit, the team toured vending sites across Chiredzi District, engaging traders and encouraging them to align with Government‑backed vending initiatives. Chinogwenya told vendors that the vending infrastructure in Chiredzi was established through Zanu PF empowerment programmes aimed at supporting informal traders.

“The vending sites you see here in Chiredzi were initiated by our Zanu PF National People’s Party to empower you as vendors,” she said. “As your leaders, we are here to guide you and remind you of the history you share with Zanu PF on these sites.”

The tour followed the demolition of illegal vending structures in parts of Chiredzi, which authorities said were operating outside designated areas.

Speaking to journalists, Chinogwenya criticised comments allegedly made by Tafadzwa Matanhuse during the demolitions. Matanhuse is facing charges of inciting public violence after reportedly making remarks critical of the President.

“Matanhuse was out of proportion. He crossed a red line,” Chinogwenya said. “We must learn to respect with dignity President Mnangagwa. The First Family is untouchable.”

She also dismissed comments allegedly directed at businessman Wicknell Chivayo, saying such remarks were unacceptable within the organisation.

“What Tafadzwa said about Wicknell Chivayo is utter nonsense. We will not allow such a bad habit among our progressive Patriotic Vendors4ED,” she said. “Speaking badly about our President means you have touched the apple of my eye, and that of our Patriotic Vendors4ED National Chairman Sawu Jere.”

Chinogwenya further alleged that Matanhuse’s statements were influenced by opposition elements seeking to tarnish the image of the ruling party leadership.

“As Zanu PF vendors, never join opposition gangs in tarnishing the reputation of President Mnangagwa and our Patriotic Vendors4ED,” she said. “The President must be respected with all dignity.”

The delegation concluded the tour by calling for unity among vendors and continued support for Government programmes targeting the informal sector. The visit forms part of ongoing mobilisation efforts linked to Patriotic Vendors4ED community outreach across Masvingo Province.
