Wooes continue to mount for former Citizens Against Economic Sanctions Zimbabwe director Martin Zharare after several Government ministries and agencies publicly distanced themselves from him in the wake of his alleged graft activities.
Zharare, who is facing fraud cases in Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West and Binga, has been disowned by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) and the office of Mashonaland Central Minister Magomo.
The offices said they had no business agreements with Zharare and dismissed claims that he was operating under any official mandate. Zharare was reportedly moving around name‑dropping Government departments while claiming to be working under the Presidential borehole drilling programme.
Contacted for comment, Zharare did not answer calls and did not respond to questions sent to him by this publication.
Despite being expelled from CAES, Zharare maintains that he is still in control of the organisation and insists he is a victim of factionalism within the movement.
The developments add pressure to ongoing investigations and intensify scrutiny around alleged abuses linked to Presidential borehole projects and public sector fraud.
