Boyfriend jailed for fondling minor girlfriend

A 23‑year‑old Bindura man has been sentenced to one year in prison for indecent assault after he fondled the breasts of his Form One girlfriend.
The Bindura magistrate suspended four months of the sentence on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecutor Samantha Kufa told the court that on 4 July, the convict Brian Chatyoka called the minor to his house, where he kissed her and fondled her breasts with her consent before releasing her. He allegedly repeated the same conduct on 9 July.
The girl’s stepfather later heard rumours that Chatyoka was indecently assaulting the minor. He informed the girl’s mother, who questioned her daughter, leading to the disclosure of the incidents.
A police report was filed, resulting in Chatyoka’s arrest.
The case adds to ongoing discussions around child protection enforcement and sexual offences sentencing.
