Zimbabwean rapper Mudiwa Hood has declined an invitation to perform at Winky D's Tete Atete Season 2 this weekend, saying he is fully focused on preparations for his upcoming album.

In a statement issued by Team Mudiwa Hood management, the musician thanked Winky D and the Tete Atete management for the invitation to perform at the event on August 29.

The team, however, said Mudiwa would not be taking up the offer because of the demands surrounding his upcoming project, which is scheduled for release on September 12.

"However, we humbly decline," the statement said.

The management was quick to dismiss suggestions that Mudiwa's decision amounted to a boycott of Winky D, popularly known as the Gafa.

"Before anyone starts with the ‘Mudiwa is boycotting Winky D' stories, let us stop you right there. We are NOT boycotting anyone. We are NOT against Winky D," the statement said.

It said Mudiwa supported Winky D and would watch his performance online.

According to the statement, Mudiwa's forthcoming album has been a major focus for his team, with every song reportedly accompanied by a music video.

"This album is not just songs. EACH SONG has a MUSIC VIDEO. Yes, you heard that right. EVERY SINGLE TRACK has visuals. We are talking about a FULL ALBUM of videos," the management said.

The project also features some of Zimbabwe's prominent musicians, including Jah Prayzah, Ishan, Takura, Stunner, Madedido, Denzel Malakai, Nox and Andy Muridzo.

The management described Jah Prayzah as the "undisputed Zimbabwean GOAT" and said his inclusion represented one of the major highlights of the album.

The team said the scale of the project required Mudiwa to remain focused on recording, video production, mixing and coordinating collaborations ahead of the September 12 release.

"So when you have that kind of line up … that kind of production, that kind of pressure, you CANNOT afford distractions. Not even a stage as big as Tete Atete," the statement said.

The management said the decision was therefore purely based on scheduling and preparation for the album rather than any disagreement with Winky D.

"To the Gafa, we say this with LOVE. We will NOT be on your line up this weekend. We RESPECT you. We HONOUR you. We SUPPORT you. But our schedule is TIGHT. Our focus is SHARP. Our album is LOADED," it said.

The team wished Winky D well at the event and suggested that Mudiwa could potentially participate in a future edition.

"Winky D, go and shut down Tete Atete. We will be cheering from the studio. Maybe Season 3 we will come. But for now? We are in ALBUM MODE," the statement concluded.

Mudiwa's album is scheduled for release on September 12, with the management promising an extensive visual component accompanying the project.
