30,000 fans allowed into National Sports Stadium for Zimbabwe vs DR Congo

Up to 30,000 supporters will be permitted to enter the National Sports Stadium next week, as international football returns to the venue for the first time in five years for Zimbabwe's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The entry cap means the stadium will operate at its new maximum capacity, which has been reduced by half from its original 60,000 following the installation of individual bucket seats.

The decision allows a substantial home crowd to welcome the Warriors for Monday evening's crucial fixture against the Leopards.

Speaking on a local podcast, Zimbabwe Football Association chief executive Yvonne Manwa confirmed the maximum attendance.

The green light for 30,000 spectators is a step up from a fortnight ago, when only 15,000 fans were allowed entry for a CAF Champions League tie between Scottland and Nsingizini Hotspurs, a match that officially signalled the return of international football to the country.

The encounter against DR Congo will be the Warriors' second game of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, coming just four days after their opener against Sierra Leone.

That initial fixture is taking place in Morocco because the host nation lacks a CAF-certified stadium.

Supporters planning to attend the 6pm kick-off will have to fork out $10 for general admission ticket, and rising to $50 for VVIP seats.
