Businessman and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo has pledged US$10 000 towards the medical treatment of a Lupane State University student who was injured in a road traffic accident.

The intervention could provide a major lifeline for 24-year-old Nkosihlengile Ndlovu, who is based in Gwanda.

Chivayo announced the pledge in a Facebook post, saying the money would be deposited at 8.30am on Monday.

"US$10 000 will be deposited TOMORROW MONDAY at 8.30 a.m. in the morning WITHOUT FAIL. Blessed SUNDAY and wishing him a speedy recovery," Chivayo said.

The businessman did not provide further details about the accident or Ndlovu's medical condition.

The financial assistance comes as Ndlovu faces medical treatment following the road traffic accident, with the US$10 000 expected to help meet the costs associated with his recovery.

Chivayo has in recent months made several public financial interventions involving individuals and institutions, particularly in response to appeals for medical and other forms of assistance.
