Two Kwekwe cobblers have been arrested for forcing themselves on two 10-year-old girls whom they had mended their shoes.
The men, Kidmore Nyambera (21) and his partner in crime, Nyasha Nyambera (57) are nephew and uncle. They allegedly demanded payment from the two girls (names withheld) with sex being the means of payment.
It is reported that on a date unknown to the State but sometime in February last year, the two girls went to the two shoe makers who operate at a bushy spot near Speedy Bar in the Kwekwe's CBD since they wanted their shoes to be repaired. After the shoes had been fixed, the girls said they did not have money for the services rendered.
It is said that the men told the girls that nothing is for free as as such the two should find other ways of paying. Supposedly perplexed by what the men were saying, the two young girls remain silent.
First to act was Kidmore who is alleged to have ordered one of the girls to follow him to the bush and the innocent girl complied. It is reported that when they got to a secluded spot, the man gagged the girl's mouth with a piece of cloth. He then tied her arms and legs with a piece of cloth before laying her on the ground, it is alleged.
The man reportedly raped the girl. After the act, Kidmore's uncle joined the fray with the other girl. He is said to have told her that nothing is offered for free in this country. The 57-year-old man allegedly told the 10-year-old girl that whether she liked or not, she was going to pay for his services in the form of sex.
The man is said to have threatened to assault the juvenile if she screamed. He then raped her once, it is alleged. After the ruthless incident, the two girls reported the matter to relatives who took it up with the police.
The two shoe repairers were hauled before Gokwe magistrate, Mr Shepherd Mjanja who remanded then in custody on rape charges. Rumbidzai Katsande prosecuted.
