Mugabe promotes 8 cops to senior assistant commissioner rank

President Mugabe has promoted eight ZRP police officers from the rank of assistant commissioner to senior assistant commissioners.

Four hundred and three other officers were promoted to various ranks in the force.

The eight senior officers include chief police spokesperson Charity Angeline Charamba, Robert Tendero Masukusa, Bernard Dumbura, Angeline Guvamombe, Robson Mpofu, Abigail Moyo, Goodwill Musariri and Elliot Mind Ngirandi.

The ranks are with effect from April 11.

Twenty-one chief superintendents were promoted to the rank of assistant commissioner while 40 others were promoted to the rank of superintendent.

President Mugabe also promoted 27 officers to the rank of chief inspector while 252 were elevated to the rank of inspectors.

Snr Asst Comm Charamba yesterday confirmed the promotions.

"The ZRP wishes to confirm that His Excellency, the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, RG Mugabe has promoted senior police officers and members in the Zimbabwe Republic Police based on the recommendations of the Commissioner General of Police, Augustine Chihuri and in line with the ZRP promotion policy.

"The senior police officers underwent a thorough and rigorous promotion exercise," she said.

Those promoted to the rank of assistant commissioner from chief superintendent are deputy chief spokesperson Oliver Mandipaka, Prudence Chakanyuka, James Mbwando, Jane

Chibage, Clay Mudede, Stephen Zengeya, Sherpherd Chiwoko, Grace Maenzanise, Arnold Makomo, Jonathan Chituku, Kudakwashe Mubemi, Dadela Bonongwe, Priscilla Makotose, Marvis Nkomo, Chrispen Charumbira and Happymore Sigauke.

Others include Khumbulani Ndebele, Daniel Chimwanza, Shelton Dube, Patton Mbangwa and Henry Dhlakama.

Snr Asst Comm Charamba said among those who were promoted to the rank of chief superintendent were national spokesperson Paul Nyathi while the editor of Outpost magazine, Resistance Ncube, and spokesperson Blessmore Chishaka were also promoted to the rank of superintendent from chief inspector.

The officers undertook promotional examinations to get the new posts.

After the examinations they go through assessments and after that they go through board interviews where recommendations are made.

Those who fail the examinations would not proceed to the next levels.

The promoted officers will soon be transferred to different stations.
