President Robert Mugabe has turned to his long-time rival, Botswana president Ian Khama for economic notes to save the collapsing economy.
Mugabe is due to dispatch his Mining minister Walter Chidhakwa to Bostwana on July 2 to study the diamond model.
Botswana is the world's diamond producer by value.
Chidhakwa has been to Namibia and South Africa for a similar assignment.
"Diamond mining is a very difficult sector. It is difficult to monitor and manage but if we consolidated the companies into one and have one monitoring mechanisms the model of consolidation will allow for better monitoring thereby reduce leakages" Chidhakwa is quoted by the Zimbabwe Independent.
"I will be going to Botswana to look at their mining model. We are a relatively new diamond mining country".
This comes after Zimbabwe is looking into consolidating diamond mining in the country.
