Man jailed for assaulting niece

A 35-YEAR-OLD Plumtree man was convicted for assaulting his niece over cattle misunderstanding.
Bongani Ncube was sentenced to 18 months in jail by Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
Nembaware conditionally suspended six months.
The court heard that on April 12 the niece Bhekimpilo Ndebele was at a local borehole when his uncle approached him and accused him of letting his cattle graze the uncle's crops.
A misunderstanding arose and the uncle took a knobkerrie which he used to assault the complainant all over the body.
The complainant was rushed to hospital after the attack where he was treated and discharged.
