There is no joy for a Matobo man who was arrested for prospecting special minerals without proper documentation to support his claim of ownership and sufficient evidence on legality to proceed with operations.
Appearing on Monday before Plumtree magistrate, Mr Joshua Nembaware, the accused Ndodana Moyo (49) was remanded in custody to May 29.
Allegations are that, on the May 21a team of police officers and Mines Ministry Officials embarked on an operation Chikorokoza Chapera at Matobo National Park which is a reserved mining area.
During an inquiry and operation, the team approached an area where mining activity was being conducted and located Moyo who claims ownership of the mine.
Further investigations exposed Moyo who failed to produce enough supporting documentation to sustain his claim including certificate of registration or prospecting license leading to his subsequent arrest.
Several mining equipments were confiscated to be used as exhibits including three hummer mill electric motors, one crusher electric motor and two hummer mill engines.
